Alumni Spotlight – Landry May ’25

Loving a New and Unexpected Career Path

After graduating from Sheridan College with multiple degrees in agriculture, Landry May envisioned a future as an agronomist, helping ranchers and farmers improve their operations. But life had other plans, leading her to discover a passion for an entirely different career path: helping students make the most of their college experience.

Landry’s time at Sheridan College played an important role in shaping her future. She earned multiple scholarships, participated in research alongside her instructors, and became involved in several agriculture clubs and associations.

“I loved Sheridan College. I moved 9 hours away from my family but never looked back!”

While pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science through the University of Wyoming extension program at Sheridan College, Landry was offered a temporary position in the Sheridan College Campus Life office. She accepted the opportunity, never imagining it would open the door to a new career.

Having recently experienced college life as a student herself, Landry brought a valuable perspective to the role. She understood the challenges of engaging students and recognized an opportunity to make campus activities more appealing and accessible.

“I knew that poor attendance at student events was a problem. I chatted with a lot of students to get feedback on what activities would be most likely to draw them in, and used that information to plan accordingly.”

Her student-focused approach quickly made a difference. Landry was promoted to the position of Coordinator of Campus Life, where she continued to build momentum and increase student involvement throughout the academic year.

Through her initiative, creativity, and dedication, Landry has helped create a more vibrant campus experience at Sheridan College. Her journey is a reminder that sometimes the most rewarding career paths are the ones we never anticipated.

“I love spending summers in the field, but I was surprised at how much I love working with students. No matter what, I know I want to continue helping students for the rest of my life!”
